Chairperson's Message
Namaskar !
Inspired by the core belief that women’s empowerment and development are essential for the progress of any country, Mahila Sahayogi Saving and Credit Cooperative Ltd. was formally registered on 5th Poush, 2056 B.S., under the leadership of the late Ms. Chameli Shakya.
The main objective of Mahila Sahayogi SACCOS is to improve the economic and social well-being of relatively poor and underprivileged women within its working area through cooperative approaches. In addition, the organization envisions establishing itself as a model institution that contributes to poverty reduction by empowering women and promoting the economic and social transformation of disadvantaged communities through accessible and quality financial services.
For this purpose, in 2059 B.S., a microfinance program was launched with the support of the Rotary Club of Balaju and RMDC (now Small Farmers Development Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd.), targeting women who, despite having skills and motivation, lacked access to capital. Through this program, approximately 9,000 low-income women who were previously outside the reach of formal banking services have been supported with micro-enterprise loans at their doorstep, promoting entrepreneurship through skill development, and enabling them to become financially self-reliant.
As a result, there has been a significant improvement in the economic and social living standards of women members. Economic and social empowerment through the development of entrepreneurship have contributed to building self-reliant, respectful, and prosperous families. In addition, it has helped create a positive social environment and a culture of respect, where women are increasingly recognized and valued within their families.
For the continued upliftment of women members and their families, Mahila Sahayogi SACCOS has been implementing various skill-based programs, including social awareness, financial literacy, and legal literacy, by adopting modern technologies and methods. In addition, it conducts programs such as women’s health check-ups, scholarships for their children, entrepreneurship development, and initiatives to enhance decision-making skills. The organization plans to further strengthen and expand these programs more effectively in the future.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the women members, and supporters who have shown their love and continuous support for this institution.
Jai Mahila Sahayogi!
